Deborah Von Metzradt creates children’s clothing under her brand name Little Scrap which features textile pieces upcycled with love and colour. The ethos behind the brand is to recycle as much fabric as possible whilst creating a bright, fun and happy new range of hoodies, dresses, skirts, hats, hair accessories and quilts.
Deborah also works to commission in a number of ways, for example if you have children’s clothes that no longer fit she will upcycle them in to new pieces to suit them now and into the future. She also recognises that there is a lot of sentimentality attached to newborn and children’s early clothes. If you bring these pieces to her she can upcycle them into a range of blankets, duvets and throws which you could pass onto your children at those special occasions such as their twenty-first.
Little Scrap products are available at selected craft fairs and stores in Ireland during the year and by appointment at the studio. Her aspiration of the business would be to grow the brand and increase the number of outlets stocking her products.
Deborah’s clothes for children are uniquely crafted handmade individual works that are each one off pieces. Her passion for colour and texture leads her to work with all kinds of fabrics from cotton and velvet to fleece and wool. The joy is in giving new life to textiles, great care is taken to present these in a way that is appealing to children, her target audience.
