Custom Furniture
Cillían Johnston, a master craftsman with twenty years’ experience in the design and manufacture of custom furniture, spent time in the workshops of a number of local Irish and International Furniture manufacturers before he set up his own business “Cillían Johnston Furniture” with his industrial designer wife Lisa. The business has been designing and manufacturing quality bespoke furniture for the private, corporate and public sectors since 2001. In addition to their own designs they also provide a comprehensive manufacturing service for the designs of architects, interior and furniture designers’ as well as contracts with other furniture manufacturers.
Award Winning Irish Designed Giftware
Cillían and Lisa have recently begun their own range of Irish designed and made giftware products for their brand called “Aran Beag” (Little Aran). The first designs resulted in a series of table lamps which incorporate a soft woollen knitted Aran sleeve into each design; a modern contemporary use of an ancient craft to warm today’s home. These unique designs brought much acclaim at the Crafts Council of Ireland’s expo Showcase Ireland, 2012, with Cillían and Lisa’s design winning “Best New product for Tabletop and Interiors”.
Both Cillían and Lisa believe that simplicity of line and proportion are the cornerstones of all good design applying this principle to everything they design and make. We love to use high quality natural materials. In particular we have a passion for highlighting the warmth of solid wood. Craftsmanship is emphasised and integral throughout our process, and used wholly to further accentuating the qualities of the materials used.
